How affiliate links work

Many “Check price” buttons and some in-text retailer links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and then buy something, the retailer may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra: you pay the same price you would have paid anyway.

• Today our affiliate links go to Amazon, through the Amazon Associates program. If we join another retailer's program, we'll list it here.
• Some buy links go straight to a manufacturer's own store and earn us nothing. We link wherever the product is actually sold.
• Pages with buy buttons say so near the buttons, and every page's footer carries a short version of this disclosure.
• Commissions come from the retailer's affiliate program. No product maker pays us for coverage.

Editorial independence

No manufacturer pays for placement, and no brand reviews our content before it's published. Our rankings and fit scores are ours, built with the methodology described on how we pick. We don't accept payment for coverage, and commission rates don't decide what we recommend: we pick for fit with your room, your desk, and your budget, and sometimes that means recommending the cheaper model.

Advertising

The site also shows ads through Google AdSense. Ads appear in set-aside ad spaces, separate from our picks, and are marked as ads. Google chooses which ads to show; advertisers don't pick or influence our recommendations, and seeing a product in an ad doesn't mean we recommend it. We don't publish sponsored posts.
