One screen for your console, your PC, and your work.

A 42- or 48-inch OLED TV on a desk is the ultimate gaming and productivity station: an Xbox Series X, a PS5 Pro, and a gaming PC on one 4K screen with perfect blacks, and room for four windows side by side when it's time to work. It's also a TV doing a monitor's job, so size, burn-in, mounting, and sound need planning.

Quick picks

If you just want the answer

  1. LG C6 42-inch OLED TV, three-quarter view on its two feet

    Best overall

    LG C6 42-inch OLED

    42" 4K OLED TV, 165Hz · ~$999.99 (approx., Oct 2026)

RTINGS' top TV for PC use, at the size that fits most desks: four HDMI 2.1 inputs and 165Hz for an Xbox, a PS5 Pro, and a PC at once. ~$999.99 from Amazon, $400 under list. Glossy, and the 42-inch misses LG's Brightness Booster.

  2. LG C6 48-inch OLED TV, three-quarter view on its center pedestal stand

    Best for deep desks

    LG C6 48-inch OLED

    48" 4K OLED TV, 165Hz · ~$1,099 (approx., Oct 2026)

RTINGS tested it as a monitor and found it clearly brighter than the 42-inch C5, thanks to a tandem panel, with 165Hz and very low input lag. ~$1,099, about $100 more than the 42. Needs a deep desk or a wall mount.

  3. Samsung S90H 48-inch OLED TV, three-quarter view on its center pedestal stand

    Best for bright rooms

    Samsung S90H 48-inch OLED

    48" 4K matte OLED TV, 165Hz · ~$1,097.99 (approx., Oct 2026)

A matte Glare Free screen, which RTINGS calls the S90H's biggest advantage over the LG C6 in bright rooms, plus 165Hz on all four HDMI ports. ~$1,097.99 from Amazon. No Dolby Vision, and no review of the 48-inch yet.

  4. LG C5 42-inch OLED TV, three-quarter view on its two feet

    Best value

    LG C5 42-inch OLED

    42" 4K OLED TV, 144Hz · ~$849.95 (approx., Oct 2026)

What Hi-Fi's best 42-inch OLED, with four full-speed HDMI 2.1 ports and 144Hz for ~$849.95 from a third-party seller. Dimmer than the C6; if the gap is under $100, get the C6.

Before you buy

What makes a TV a good desk display

  1. 01Size for your desk depth

At 42 inches a 4K screen has about the pixel density of a 27-inch 1440p monitor, and works from roughly an arm's length. A 48-inch wants a desk around 30 inches deep, or a wall mount, so you can sit back far enough to take it in.

  2. 02HDMI 2.1 on every input

TVs don't have DisplayPort. Every pick here has four HDMI inputs that take 4K at 120Hz or more, enough for an Xbox Series X, a PS5 Pro, and a PC with an HDMI 2.1 graphics card at the same time.

  3. 03Burn-in is a habit, not a lottery

A taskbar, dock, or spreadsheet grid left on screen eight hours a day is the worst case for OLED. Auto-hide the taskbar, use a dark or rotating wallpaper, let the TV run its pixel refresh in standby, and mix in games and video.

  4. 04Plan the stand, the arm, and the sound

TV stands are wide and shallow, made for a media console. Check the footprint, or use a VESA arm rated for the weight. And budget for speakers, a soundbar, or a headset: thin TV speakers don't sound good at arm's length.

Methodology

How we score desk TVs

Every model gets five editorial fit scores from 1 to 5, weighted for a desk rather than a living room. They're our synthesis of published reviews (RTINGS, What Hi-Fi?, Tom's Guide, CNET, TechSpot, TFTCentral and others, credited on each page) and manufacturer specs. We don't run a test bench, and we never claim measurements we didn't take.

Value is judged at the approximate Amazon price we saw on October 7, 2026, so it moves when prices do. No brand pays for placement.

Prefer a dedicated PC display instead? See our monitor picks and the best gaming monitors guide.
