Head to head
LG UltraGear 39GX950B vs MSI MPG 341CQR X36
A 39-inch 5K2K WOLED against a 34-inch 360Hz QD-OLED: LG's sharp, bright 39GX950B or MSI's faster, cheaper MPG 341CQR X36. Specs, warranties, and a straight pick.
These two ultrawide OLEDs pull in opposite directions. LG's UltraGear 39GX950B is a 39-inch 5K2K (5120x2160) screen with the brightest HDR TechSpot has seen on an ultrawide OLED. MSI's MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 is a 34-inch 3440x1440 screen that runs at 360Hz, and it's TFTCentral's 34-inch ultrawide pick. One is about sharpness and immersion; the other is about speed and value.

Choose the 39GX950B if…
- You want the sharpest, most immersive ultrawide: 5K2K is about 27-inch-1440p density across 39 inches.
- You care most about HDR punch; TechSpot calls it the brightest ultrawide OLED HDR it has seen.
- Your room is bright. The matte coating handles glare better than MSI's semi-glossy film.
- You have a high-end GPU and want built-in speakers.
Choose the MPG 341CQR X36 if…
- You want speed: 360Hz at native resolution, against the LG's 165Hz.
- Your GPU is mid-range; 3440x1440 is far easier to drive than 5K2K.
- You want a KVM switch and a three-year warranty that covers burn-in.
- You'd rather spend ~$899.99 than ~$1,399.99.
Our verdict
MSI MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36
For most buyers, the MSI MPG 341CQR X36. It's $500 cheaper, three times faster at native resolution, easier on your GPU, and backed by a three-year burn-in warranty, and its RGB-stripe panel fixes the text fringing older QD-OLEDs had. Buy the LG 39GX950B if sharpness, size, and HDR brightness matter more than speed, and you have the GPU and room for it.
Frequently asked questions
Is 5K2K worth it over 3440x1440 on an ultrawide?
For work and immersion, yes: 5120x2160 on 39 inches is about as sharp as a 27-inch 1440p monitor, while 3440x1440 on 34 inches is noticeably softer (PCWorld calls it adequate but not sharp). For gaming, 5K2K needs a very powerful GPU to run at high frame rates; 3440x1440 doesn't.
What about the Alienware AW3926QW?
It's a 39-inch 5K2K OLED like the LG, with an RGB-stripe glossy panel, a KVM switch, and a three-year burn-in warranty. TechSpot and TFTCentral rate it above the LG, and Dell sells it for $1,099.99. It wasn't listed on Amazon US when we checked on October 7, 2026, so we don't cover it here.
Which handles a bright room better?
The LG. Its matte coating diffuses glare, and WOLED blacks hold up better under room light. MSI's DarkArmor film reduces the gray-purple look of QD-OLED blacks, but RTINGS still sees grayish blacks in a bright room.
