Samsung S90H OLED: prices, fit, and what the testing says

Our OLED pick for most rooms: a matte-screen OLED priced like the LG C6. In North America it's a WOLED this year, not the QD-OLED some earlier S90s used.

Our take

The short version

The S90H is the OLED for a room that's bright by day and dark by night. Its Glare Free coating is matte, and RTINGS says it does an amazing job with glare. That one feature is most of the reason to pick it over an LG C6 at the same price, and it's why our helper ranks it above the C6 in every answer.

It's less exotic than it looks on paper. RTINGS reports that no North American S90H uses a QD-OLED panel in 2026: most sizes are standard WOLED, like the C6, and the 48- and 77-inch use a brighter RGB tandem WOLED. Like every Samsung, it skips Dolby Vision for HDR10+.

On price it shadows the C6. Amazon had the 65-inch at $1,497.99 on October 7, 12, and 14, then $1,397.99 on October 19, $2 under the C6 that day. Samsung's launch price for that size was $2,699.

The scores, explained

Fit by room and use

By room

Bright room4/5Tied 8th of 15 (4 TVs)
The matte coating all but eliminates reflections, per RTINGS, so lamps and windows stay off the picture. It isn't as bright as the S95H or a mini-LED, which keeps it off the top rung.
Mixed light4.5/5Tied 2nd of 15 (7 TVs) · average of bright and dark
This is its best room relative to the field. It handles daylight better than the glossy LGs and still has OLED blacks at night, so its blend ties for second in the catalog.
Dark room5/5Tied 1st of 15 (8 TVs)
With the lights off the coating has nothing to fight, and the blacks are as deep as the C6's.

By use

Movies & TV5/5Tied 1st of 15 (8 TVs)
Excellent contrast and HDR10+, with no Dolby Vision. RTINGS finds the C6 brighter in HDR with better processing, so film fans who stream a lot of Dolby Vision may lean LG.
Sports4/5Tied 6th of 15 (7 TVs)
Clean OLED motion and a screen that copes with a sunny afternoon game. It's not as bright as the mini-LEDs that top this score.
Gaming5/5Tied 1st of 15 (6 TVs)
Up to 165Hz with G-Sync and FreeSync Premium Pro on four HDMI 2.1 ports, plus Samsung's Game Bar. On par with the C6 for consoles and PCs.
A bit of everything4.67/5Tied 1st of 15 (7 TVs) · average of movies, sports, and gaming
Strong at everything, with no weak use. Among the OLEDs, only the pricier S95H reads higher across rooms.

Of the helper's 144 possible answers, the Samsung S90H OLED makes the shortlist in 30 and leads it in 6. The helper ranks the S90H above the LG C6 in every answer. In mixed light its bright-room score lifts it outright; in a dark room the two tie exactly, and our tiebreak, which favors more total picture points, goes to that same point. It makes three Mixed shortlists under $1,800 and seven with no limit, where it leads for Mixed light with movies and for a Dark room with a bit of everything. It can't fit the two lower budgets at about $1,400.

  • 42, 48, 55, 65, 77, and 83 inches, all WOLED in North America, per RTINGS. The 48- and 77-inch use the brighter RGB tandem version.
  • RTINGS tested the 65-inch (QN65S90HAEXZA), the model behind our Amazon price checks.
  • Same TV, different code: Samsung sells the S90H at Costco and Sam's Club under codes ending in HDEXZA, which RTINGS lists as the same TV with an extended warranty.
  • Samsung still uses QD-OLED for some S90H sizes in other regions, so reviews from outside North America may not describe the one sold here.

  • Skip it if

The room is dim and you'd like $200 back
