Samsung S85H OLED: prices, fit, and what the testing says
Samsung's cheapest OLED, and the most efficient ENERGY STAR TV we cover. RTINGS rates the LG B6 a little better.
Our take
The short version
The S85H is a way into OLED blacks without paying for Samsung's matte coating. It's a WOLED in every size, using the same OLED SE panel type as Sony's Bravia 6 and LG's B6E, per RTINGS. It has Samsung's Tizen platform with free Samsung TV Plus channels, and no Dolby Vision.
It got cheaper while we watched. Amazon had the 65-inch at $1,297.99 on October 7, 12, and 14, then $1,197.99 on October 19, which made it the cheapest LG or Samsung OLED at that size. The 48-inch, a bedroom and desk size, was $797.99 at Amazon on October 7 and 12.
Put it in a dim room. RTINGS calls its reflection handling limited, and it's dimmer than the S90H, so it shares the B6's weakness in daylight.

The scores, explained
Fit by room and use
By room
- Bright room3/5
- Dimmer than the S90H, without its full anti-glare upgrade, and RTINGS calls its reflection handling limited. Daylight is a struggle.
- Mixed light4/5
- Workable with lamps, weak with sun on the screen. The dark-room score carries this blend.
- Dark room5/5
- Per-pixel blacks, so it matches every other OLED here with the lights off.
By use
- Movies & TV4/5
- Good contrast, but RTINGS rates the B6 more accurate in HDR, and there's no Dolby Vision. That puts it a step below the LG OLEDs for films.
- Sports3/5
- OLED motion is clean, but the dim, reflective screen hurts day games, and RTINGS finds the B6 cleans up low-quality streams better.
- Gaming4/5
- A solid console feature set, per the specs we track. We haven't logged an outlet's gaming test for it, so it sits a step below the S90H and C6, whose 165Hz support is confirmed.
- A bit of everything3.67/5
- A dark-room specialist with no standout use. It earns its place on price.

What Find my TV picks it for
Of the helper's 144 possible answers, the Samsung S85H OLED makes the shortlist in 9, never in first place. The helper puts the S85H second for dark-room movies under $1,200, and third for dark-room movies and gaming under $1,800. Under $1,800 it ties the Roku Pro Series exactly for dark-room movies and sports, and the Roku's lower estimate wins the tiebreak. At about $1,200 it's the only LG or Samsung OLED that fits the $1,200 answer.
