Soundbar buying guide
The Best Soundbar for Your TV, by Brand and Size
Which soundbar to get for a Samsung, LG, Sony, Hisense, TCL, Roku, or Fire TV, from 42 to 98 inches: the sync features each maker names, and which bars fit under each screen.
Two things about your TV narrow the soundbar list fast. Its brand decides which sync features you can get: Samsung's Q-Symphony, LG's WOW Orchestra, Sony's Acoustic Center Sync, and so on. Its size decides which bars fit underneath without hanging past the screen.
This guide works through every TV brand and size in our TV catalog. The table below is built from the catalog and the soundbar finder, not typed by hand, so it changes when a price, a score, or a TV does. Sync features are only the ones each soundbar maker states, with the TV years it names.
Picks and scores are an editorial synthesis of published testing and the makers' specs, not our own testing. Prices are what Amazon charged on October 26, 2026, not live quotes.

Our analysis
Your TV, and the bars that suit it
Computed from our catalog and the soundbar finder at build time, so it moves when a price or score does. We don't test soundbars ourselves; findings from other outlets are credited on each bar's page. How we work
Every TV brand and size we cover, with the bars to get
Samsung's 2026 bars only fit from 55 inches: the HW-Q800H there, the HW-Q990H from 65. Under a 42- or 48-inch Samsung, no bar we cover has a Samsung feature that covers 2026 sets. The Q800H is too wide, and the HW-B750F's and HW-S60D's Q-Symphony footnotes stop at 2025 and 2024 TVs.
LG works the same way. The Sound Suite H7 fits from 55 inches and the S95AR from 65, so a 42- or 48-inch LG C6 gets no LG bar. For Sony, the BRAVIA Theater Bar 5 is the highest-ranked bar with a Sony feature at every size we cover, but only the Bar 8 has Acoustic Center Sync, which uses the TV as the center speaker.
Hisense and Roku TVs both point to the Hisense AX5140Q: Hisense names Hi-Concerto for its own TVs, and its manual covers Roku TV setup. TCL and Amazon Fire TV get no brand features from any bar we cover, so the all-round column is the answer for them: the HW-Q800H at 55 inches and the HW-Q990H from 65.

Rows: every TV brand and size our TV catalog sells, grouped the way the soundbar finder asks (a 77-inch counts as 75–77, and 85 inches and up count as 83 and up). Each cell is the finder's first pick for that brand and size with “All-round” use: “Best all-round” with no budget, “Best under $300” at the Under $300 answer, and “Best with brand sync” the highest-ranked bar whose maker names a feature for that TV brand. Only bars no wider than the screen's picture count. Prices seen October 26, 2026.
Which bars fit which screen sizes
Our rule is that a bar fits when it's no wider than the screen's picture. A 16:9 picture is about 0.872 times the diagonal wide: 47.9 inches on a 55-inch TV, 56.7 on a 65-inch, and 72.3 on an 83-inch. The TV itself is always a little wider, so a bar that passes won't overhang it.
Two bars only fit from 65 inches, the HW-Q990H and LG S95AR. Five more fit from 55 inches, and just five fit under a 42-inch screen. A small bar under a big TV works fine; it just looks small, and our scores already reflect that it sounds smaller too.

The width rule: a bar fits when it's no wider than the screen's picture. A 16:9 picture is 0.872 × the diagonal wide (42" → 36.6 in, 48" → 41.8 in, 55" → 47.9 in, 65" → 56.7 in, 75" → 65.4 in, 83" → 72.3 in), and every TV is a little wider than its picture, so a bar that passes won't overhang the set. Widths are the makers' published bar widths.

How we chose
We ran the soundbar finder for every TV brand and size our TV catalog sells, with 'All-round' use. Each row's best all-round pick has no budget; the under-$300 pick uses the finder's lowest budget; and the synced pick is the highest-ranked bar whose maker names a feature for that brand that covers the brand's current TVs. Only bars no wider than the screen's picture count.
Sync features come from the soundbar makers' own pages, manuals, and support articles, with the TV years they name. Where a maker names none, we don't assume any. The fit scores follow RTINGS' published verdicts and other outlets' testing, credited on each bar's page.
What each brand's sync features do
Any bar with HDMI ARC or eARC works with any TV that has it. Matching brands adds these, per the soundbar makers:
- Samsung: Q-Symphony plays the TV's speakers along with the bar, and Wireless Dolby Atmos drops the HDMI cable. On the HW-Q990H and HW-Q800H, Samsung names 2022 and later TVs; on the HW-B750F, 2020–2025; on the HW-S60D, 2020–2024.
- LG: WOW Orchestra plays the TV's speakers along with the bar, WOWCAST connects it wirelessly, and WOW Interface puts its settings on the TV. LG's US pages say 'select LG TV and LG Soundbar models' without naming years.
- Sony: Acoustic Center Sync uses the BRAVIA as the center speaker, on the Bar 8 only. Voice Zoom 3 lifts dialogue and Quick Settings controls the bar, on both the Bar 8 and Bar 5.
- Hisense: Hi-Concerto plays the TV's speakers along with the bar, and EzPlay puts its controls on the TV remote, on 'select Hisense TV models'. Hisense's US pages don't list them; its Canadian page names the UXQG, U88QG, and U78QG.
- Roku TVs: the Bose Lifestyle Ultra is Roku TV Ready, per Bose; the Hisense AX5140Q's manual covers Roku TV setup; and Roku's own Streambar SE sets itself up and runs on the Roku TV remote.
TCL, Fire TV, and other brands
None of the bars we cover names a feature for TCL or Amazon Fire TV sets. That's no loss to the sound: pick by size and budget, plug into the TV's eARC port, and the TV remote will run the volume over HDMI-CEC. At 55 inches that's the Samsung HW-Q800H, and from 65 inches the HW-Q990H, on our scores.
Before you buy: ports, DTS, and height
Use the TV's eARC port if it has one, and plug consoles into the TV rather than the bar unless the bar passes 4K at 120Hz. The Samsung HW-Q990H and Sony Bar 8 do; LG lists 120Hz for the S95AR, but RTINGS found it can't carry full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth. If you play DTS soundtracks, check the TV too: RTINGS found the LG C6 doesn't pass DTS through to a soundbar.
Measure the gap under the screen as well. The bars here are 2.3 to 2.95 inches tall, and a bar that blocks the TV's IR receiver can stop the remote from working. Our TV and soundbar pairing guide covers placement.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Samsung soundbar for my Samsung TV?
No; any bar with HDMI ARC or eARC works. A Samsung bar adds Q-Symphony, but check the years: for a 2026 Samsung TV, only the HW-Q990H and HW-Q800H here name 2022 and later sets. The cheaper HW-B750F and HW-S60D list only older TVs.
What size soundbar fits a 55-inch TV?
One no wider than about 47.9 inches, the picture width of a 55-inch screen. The Samsung HW-Q800H (43.7 inches), Sonos Arc Ultra (46.4), and LG Sound Suite H7 (47.2) fit; the Samsung HW-Q990H and LG S95AR are wider and need a 65-inch TV.
What's the best soundbar for a Sony Bravia TV?
On our scores, the Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 5: it adds Voice Zoom 3 and Quick Settings control with 2024–2026 BRAVIAs, and RTINGS calls it great for dialogue. If you want the TV's speakers to act as the center channel, only the Bar 8 has Acoustic Center Sync, though the testing rates it lower.
Will a Sonos soundbar work with an LG or Samsung TV?
Yes, over HDMI eARC or ARC, and your TV remote will run it. Sonos names no TV-brand features, so you won't get Q-Symphony or WOW Orchestra, and none of the Sonos bars decode DTS:X.
