The Best Ultrawide Monitors of 2026
The best ultrawide monitors for 2026: Alienware's AW3426DW for most people, MSI's 360Hz MPG 341CQR X36, and LG's 39-inch 5K2K UltraGear 39GX950B.
Ultrawide OLEDs took a big step in 2026. Samsung Display's 5th-gen 34-inch QD-OLED panel moved to an RGB-stripe layout that fixes the colored text fringing older panels had, and LG Display's 39-inch Tandem WOLED brought 5K2K (5120x2160) resolution to a screen that size. Our picks cover both, from about $800.

How we chose
For ultrawides we weighted gaming and productivity about equally, since many people buy one to replace two monitors, then HDR and value. Warranty mattered more than usual: big OLED panels are expensive to replace, so we note whether each maker's warranty covers burn-in.
TFTCentral's August 28, 2026 OLED recommendations, TechSpot's May 2026 ultrawide guide and its July and September reviews of the Alienware models, and RTINGS' best ultrawide monitors list (updated October 5, 2026) shaped the ranking. Specs come from manufacturer pages. Dell's 39-inch Alienware AW3926QW is an excellent monitor we'd otherwise rank here, but it wasn't sold on Amazon US when we checked.
34-inch or 39-inch?
A 34-inch 3440x1440 ultrawide is about as tall as a 27-inch monitor and a third wider; at about 110 pixels per inch it has 27-inch-1440p sharpness, and mid-range GPUs can drive it at high frame rates. A 39-inch 5K2K ultrawide is taller and much sharper (143 pixels per inch), but 5K2K is very demanding in games and the screen needs a deep desk.
- Mostly gaming, mid-range GPU: 34-inch (AW3426DW or MSI 341CQR X36).
- Mostly work or immersion, high-end GPU: 39-inch 5K2K (LG 39GX950B).
- Bright room: the LG's matte coating handles glare best.
Ultrawides for work
An ultrawide replaces a two-monitor setup without a bezel down the middle. If you'll use one with a laptop, check the USB-C port: the MSI 341CQR X36 (98W) and LG 39GX950B (90W) carry video and charge over one cable, while the Alienware AW3426DW's USB-C is a downstream data port only. Only the MSI has a KVM switch.
Burn-in is the other consideration. Static taskbars and toolbars for hours a day are the hardest case for OLED; all three makers offer warranties (three years with burn-in coverage from Dell and MSI; two years parts and labor from LG, which doesn't state burn-in coverage on LG.com).
Curves, explained
The curve rating is the radius of the circle the screen would form, in millimeters: 1800R (the 34-inch models) is gentler than 1500R (the LG), and both are much gentler than the 800R curve on LG's 45-inch 45GX950A. Gentler curves look more natural for spreadsheets and straight lines; steeper ones wrap around you in games.
Also consider
- Alienware AW3926QW ($1,099.99 at Dell.com): a 39-inch 5K2K Tandem WOLED with an RGB-stripe glossy panel, a KVM switch, Dolby Vision, and a three-year burn-in warranty. TechSpot rates it better overall than the LG and TFTCentral makes it its 39-inch pick, but it wasn't listed on Amazon US on October 7, 2026.
- ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN (~$1,299 on Amazon): RTINGS' best ultrawide, using the same 5th-gen 360Hz panel as the MSI 341CQR X36. TechSpot found the two extremely difficult to separate; the MSI was $399 cheaper on October 7.
- LG UltraGear 45GX950A (~$1,299.99 on Amazon, list $1,999.99): a 45-inch 5K2K WOLED with a steep 800R curve. TechSpot's best 45-inch ultrawide, on slightly older panel tech (True Black 400).

Frequently asked questions
What is the best ultrawide monitor in 2026?
For most people, the Alienware AW3426DW: TechSpot's go-to 34-inch ultrawide and RTINGS' best mid-range ultrawide, at ~$799.99. For 360Hz and one-cable laptop docking, the MSI MPG 341CQR X36 (~$899.99). For a sharper 39-inch 5K2K screen, the LG 39GX950B (~$1,399.99).
Are ultrawide monitors good for work?
Yes; a 34- or 39-inch ultrawide gives you the space of two monitors without a bezel. For long office days with static windows, weigh OLED burn-in: pick a model with a burn-in warranty (Dell and MSI cover it for three years), or consider an LCD ultrawide.
Do games support 21:9 ultrawide?
Most modern PC games do, and the extra width is a real immersion upgrade in racing, flight, and open-world games. Some games and most consoles output 16:9, which leaves black bars at the sides. Consoles in particular don't support ultrawide resolutions.
What GPU do I need for a 5K2K ultrawide?
A high-end one. 5120x2160 is about 11 million pixels, more than 4K's 8.3 million, so even powerful cards need upscaling for high frame rates in demanding games. A 3440x1440 ultrawide (about 5 million pixels) is far easier to drive.
