Hisense U8QG: prices, fit, and what the testing says
A 2025 mini-LED that the helper picks more often than any other TV we cover. Bright, 165Hz, and priced like a midrange set.
Our take
The short version
The U8QG is the TV that ties our catalog's best scores for sports and gaming without a flagship price. It's a bright mini-LED with dense local dimming, a native high-refresh panel up to 165Hz, and both Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+. It's a 2025 model that's still on sale.
Its price edged up. Amazon had the 65-inch at $999.99 on October 7, during Prime Big Deal Days, and $1,099.99 on October 19, when Amazon's list and typical prices were also $1,099.99. That suggests the $999.99 was the sale and $1,099.99 is the norm.
The odd note comes from RTINGS, which says most people are better off with Hisense's lower-tier U7SG, because most content can't use the U8QG's extra brightness. At October 19 prices the U7SG cost $398 more, which turns that advice around.

The scores, explained
Fit by room and use
By room
- Bright room5/5
- Very high peak brightness for the money. It ties the top bright-room score in the catalog.
- Mixed light4.5/5
- Strong by day, good at night. Blooming on tough dark scenes is what keeps the blend from the very top.
- Dark room4/5
- Dense local dimming gives deep blacks for an LCD, but halos and off-angle color shift keep it a point behind the OLEDs.
By use
- Movies & TV4/5
- Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ both, and plenty of HDR punch. Blooming on tough contrast scenes holds it a step below the film picks.
- Sports5/5
- A top score: bright for day games and high-refresh for smooth motion.
- Gaming5/5
- A top score too. Its native panel runs up to 165Hz with strong VRR, and no OLED burn-in worries with a static HUD.
- A bit of everything4.67/5
- Top sports and gaming plus good movies put it in the tie for the best all-round reading.
