Sony Bravia 8 II: prices, fit, and what the testing says
Sony's QD-OLED for film fans, sold only in 55 and 65 inches. It's the priciest OLED we track on Amazon, and its standby draw is the highest we've seen.
Our take
The short version
The Bravia 8 II is about picture processing. It pairs a QD-OLED panel with Sony's XR processing, which is why film fans shortlist it, and it supports both Dolby Vision, which Samsung skips, and DTS passthrough, which the LG C6 and G6 skip, per RTINGS. It runs Google TV.
It's less flexible than its price suggests. There are only two HDMI 2.1 ports, and one doubles as the eARC port for a soundbar. It comes in just two sizes. And RTINGS found its blacks look gray in a lit room, so it's not the QD-OLED for a sunny space.
The price went the wrong way. Amazon had the 65-inch at $2,498 on October 7, then $2,798 from Amazon.com on October 12, 14, and 19. At that price it costs about twice as much as an LG C6.

Price history
One step up and no step back: $2,498 on October 7, then $2,798 on all three later checks. That's about $300 more than the LG G6 and Samsung S95H cost at their makers' stores on October 12 and 14. We haven't priced the 55-inch, the only other size.

The scores, explained
Fit by room and use
By room
- Bright room4/5
- QD-OLED color holds up with some light around, but RTINGS sees gray blacks in a lit room, which keeps it below the S95H.
- Mixed light4.5/5
- Evenings with lamps suit it. A sunny afternoon brings out the gray blacks RTINGS describes.
- Dark room5/5
- A dark room is where it shines: QD-OLED contrast with Sony's processing, the setting this TV is tuned for.
By use
- Movies & TV5/5
- Dolby Vision, DTS passthrough, and Sony's upscaling and motion make it a film-first OLED, and that's where its score is highest.
- Sports4/5
- Sony's motion handling helps fast action. Lit-room blacks and just two sizes keep it from the top for game day.
- Gaming4/5
- Two HDMI 2.1 ports is the limit: fine for one console and a soundbar, awkward for two consoles. PS5 owners do get Sony extras like Auto HDR Tone Mapping.
- A bit of everything4.33/5
- Great films, fine sports, merely good gaming. The two-port limit is what keeps its all-round reading below the C6, G6, S90H, and S95H.

It's over every budget below No limit, and with no limit it pairs a value score in the lowest band with the highest OLED price in the catalog, so cheaper OLEDs with the same room scores rank ahead every time.

- It's a 2025 model that Sony kept in the lineup; the "II" marks a second generation, not a year.
- Sony's newer Bravia 6 is a different TV: a WOLED with the OLED SE panel and four HDMI 2.1 ports. Amazon had its 65-inch at $1,298 on October 14, but RTINGS rates the LG B6 and Samsung S85H above it.
